Maryknoll Lay Missioners in Cambodia

Retreat in Kampot

16-18 November 2012

Friday  |  SATURDAY  |   Sunday

Today was the one full day of the retreat and Maria Montello, Lindsay Doucette, and Steve Chinnavaso led sessions during the day and kept the group busy with interesting activities and discussion. This was the first time the MKLM group had prepared the retreat with only input from its own members rather than inviting an outside person to be the retreat leader. After the day's activities, we gathered for camaraderie and games at one of the bungalows where we were sleeping.

Morning rain clouds on the estuary
This is officially the dry season in Cambodia but dark clouds and periods of rain were prominent throughout the three days of the retreat. Global warming? This photo was taken at breakfast time.

At different times we were invited to reflect and record our reflections for discussion and follow-up later. Here Sami Scott and Maria Montello take notes on what has been said.

For breakfast and supper, we ate meals prepared by the Les Manguiers Guest House but the lunches we made ourselves with food supplies we brought with us. Here Dee Dungy and Medin Tan clean up after our informal lunch period.

Sunset over the river
By evening, when we gathered for supper on dock on the river edge, the rain clouds had mostly disappeared although they came back a little later in the evening.

Evening prayer service
In addition to preparing the input for one of the sessions, Steve Chinnavaso also prepared an evening prayer which utilized a lot of Taize music.
